South Beach from Miami or Fort Lauderdale International Airports

First and foremost......If you want to beat the spring break crowds in Miami, try going the first and second week in February. From mid-Feb to mid April, expect crowds. Memorial Day weekend and the 4th of July are other heavily visited times of the year to South Beach.
It was cool on South Beach when we were there right at mid-Febuary. Crowds were light and the weather was around 75-80.
Some may not know that flying into Miami is possible from two airports. You can fly into Miami International or Fort Lauderdale International. From Miami international Airport, The Airport Flyer bus to South beach is 2.65 each way. An Uber is $16 dollars.
From Fort Lauderdale, the Go Shuttle is $21 dollars to South Beach. They are located outside of baggage claim. An Uber is $40+
Rides to and from Fort Lauderdale are on I-95 and can take up to 3 hours to get back and forth from South Beach to the Fort Lauderdale area; At 4pm, the highways were moving extremely slow, so account for that when selecting your mode of transportation and departure times. We stayed in Fort Lauderdale because we needed to catch a flight from there. Fort Lauderdale hotels were scarce and nearly sold out because of a boat show. We got lucky and were able to find an open room for one night at the Double Tree Resort on Hollywood Beach.
We had a shared room in an Airbnb the next day but it was cool. They even had a pool in the backyard.
Fort Lauderdale hotels, food and drinks tend to be cheaper than those on South Beach as well. If you are in the Fort Lauderdale area and you want something less crowded, check out the bars around the Young Circle area.
South beach hotels:
Ocean & 10th street is prime real estate. Starlite hotel, The Colony hotel, and The Clevelander hotel are a few of the hotels in this area along Ocean drive. If you want to look elsewhere, use these properties as a reference on your map search on the link below.
